Hi. I’m Sharlene. I
would love for you to experience Alpenview Lodge for your next vacation. It is a
magnificent house designed for entertaining at its best and furnished to delight
discriminating tastes. It is spectacularly situated, satisfying nearly every
location need imaginable for your mountain vacation. It’s slopeside (the
Snowflake ski trail on Peak 9 borders the property–you can ski right to the
lift). It’s trailside, next to the national forest with 5-minute walk to a
peaceful fishing lake with lofty peaks in the background and unlimited hiking
and mountain biking beyond. It’s streamside, with private access to a quiet
mountain brook. It's convenient, situated just 3 blocks from the free town
shuttle.
What do these location amenities mean to you? When you are on vacation, location
is critical. For a large party, slopeside and walk-to-town-shuttle convenience
is very important. It means that all members of your party can come and go as
they please, without the hassle of coordinating schedules, arranging rides, etc.
It also means the kids can hop on the slope and ski to the Snowflake chairlift
without having to cross any streets, allowing mom and dad to sleep in without
worrying about the children's safety. Others can get to downtown easily for
shopping, galleries, dining and just enjoying the ambience that Breckenridge has
to offer.
Being next to the national forest is also wonderful, because you can snowshoe,
cross country ski, fish, hike or bike to your heart's content by simply walking
out your back door. There is an alpine lake within a 5 minute walk where you can
enjoy a beautiful sunrise, watch the fish rise, or just enjoy the view. If you
want a very private setting, there is a small stream adjacent to the property
for you to reflect, meditate, or just relax. Doesn’t that sound wonderful? I can
assure you, this location is one of the best you will find in ski country.
You can probably tell that I think the location is fabulous, but please let me
tell you about the house. Alpenview Lodge itself is an architectural delight.
The exterior has massive amounts of real stone and cedar siding, and there are 5
decks with breathtaking vistas. Dozens of windows ensure that the outdoors is an
integral part of your experience. Two magnificent stone chimneys stand as towers
at the front of the house. The moss rock and rough cedar exterior combine to
provide an authentic Rocky Mountain appearance. The corbeled gables, sandstone
sills and headers, and arched beams add elegant accents to please the eye.
The interior of Alpenview is elegant yet comfortable, exquisite but at home
10,000 feet above sea level high in the Rocky Mountains. The entrance to each
room is graced with knotty alder 2-panel arched top doors. If you’re like me, as
you explore the open floor plan, your spirits will soar like the eagles! There
are roughly 3 dozen exposed beams and many vaulted ceiltings (some rooms have 20
foot ceilings), built-in custom cabinetry, and red oak, tile and luxuriously
carpeted floors all awaiting your enjoyment. The living room and family rooms
are graced by massive stone fireplaces. The wet bar and kitchen have granite
slab countertops and custom cabinetry.
Your chef will feel right at home with the upscale stainless steel appliances.
The sunny breakfast nook is one place you are sure to linger, with its intimate
vaulted ceiling and beautiful mountain and forest views to enjoy. Since
Alpenview is located right on the ski run, you can even watch the skiers go by!
My favorite is the dining room, with your own private fireplace and views of Mt.
Baldy. Here is something very special about Alpenview Lodge: all 27 people can
be seated for meals at the same time because there are enough tables and chairs
for your entire party!
Although you may not want to go to sleep with all the excitement, when you
eventually do, you will be in wonderful chambers. Each of the seven bedrooms is
a suite, with its own private bath--some with walk-in closets, some with vaulted
ceilings, and even two with their own private balconies (master bdrm and bdrm
#5). The study has a connecting bath, making it comparable to an 8th bedroom.
So even though this magnificent lodge accommodates 27 people comfortably, you
can also dine, relax and play without feeling crowded. The formal area of the
house (living, wet bar, dining, and study and main floor bath) offer the adults
a getaway for an evening of reminiscing about those parallel turns you carved so
beautifully or the vistas you experienced on your hike, while the kids can be
entertained by the nanny at the family end of the house. Pocket doors ensure
privacy between these two great rooms. For those who want to watch a movie, play
pool or table games, or soak in the outdoor spa, the recreation complex on the
lower level provides these facilities. Still others of your party may want to
spend a quiet evening in the cozy "eagles nest" library upstairs to read, write
or talk, or check your email with our hi-speed wireless internet. For your
convenience, a laundry room is provided on both upper and lower levels. The
elevator serving all three floors is available at extra cost.
